Rosé manifesto

I think the world is unfair to Rosé.

The first synonymous coming to people’s mind often are “cheap, headache, tasteless” or associated with “the last massive hangover” or again “the wine I will never drink again”.

Of course, you may possibly find some that leaves a nasty feeling of “jackhammer” in your head the following day, but that might also be because you had two bottles on your own.

When you live in South East Asia, it is not only warm all year long, it is also extremely humid.

Asians love full body red wines with strong fruits flavors, sweetish aromas, and over woodiness… and an alcoholic content close to 14 or 15%.

Exactly what I would not be drinking with that weather.

But for people who did not learn how to appreciate wine, and were only drinking whisky and Cognac 10 years ago, it is the easiest move in terms of taste.

I want to tell my Asian friends why they should trust rosé more:

  • it’s easy to drink
  • it’s fresh, you can even add ice cubes in it
  • it’s lighter in alcohol
  • it’s chic
  • it’s a good introduction to lighter body red wines
  • it matches Asian spices much better than any Shiraz
  • Valentine’s day is NOT the only day where you should be drinking it

If you really are looking for sweet notes in the wine, then start with a Rosé from Australia or Chile… intense color and strong red berry flavors!

So don’t be afraid to start. The first sip will be tough, but believe me, after two, three or four glasses, you will understand why it was a good pick.

No responsibility taken for the hammer in your head.
